HOMI EVENT

24 Jan, 2020

24-27 JANUARY 2020
EXHIBITION:ECOSOCIALLY by Luca Gnizio
ECO-SYNERGY FROM WASTE "on stage" at HOMI.

Underlining once again the focus on the environment at the January 2020 HOMI event, a collection of works by the eco-social artist, Luca Gnizio, will be on exhibit.

In this period of history when we hear so much about the "demon plastic", HOMI presented us with the forerunner to tackling many waste materials by means of joint projects with Italian and foreign companies and multinationals dating as far back as 2007.

Luca Gnizio began his career by transforming and giving new life to industrial waste materials, not only to raise awareness about sustainability but above all to create new art and functional products.

He soon recognised that disposal of waste was a problem that could be solved by involving the local community in a range of projects.

In 2009 Gnizio founded "Ecosocially", a name that encapsulates the eco-synergies achieved between companies and the community, such as the recycling scheme involving 300 Levi's jeans shops in Italy; the marble waste project with more than 80 marble producing companies belonging to the consortium, Cosmave, and a display of works of art at the Piaggio Museum created by Luca Gnizio and his students at a local secondary school using recycled materials, to name but a few.

Luca Gnizio had created a new field of professional expertise: the ECOSOCIAL artist. He believes that the purpose of new art should encompass both ecological and social aims because of its power to communicate with the observer.
